Livigno – duty free paradise
This magical town is located 1,816 meters (5,958 ft) above sea level, near Swiss board in the Italian Alps, in the region of Lombardy, in the province of Sondrio has been kept as a secret. We will tell you why French don’t want you to know about it.
Over 115km of slopes, more than 50,000 persons / hour hourly flow, 75 square kilometers of ski-able surface, 7,462 m of total climb sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Thanks to its altitude, the village nursery slopes are normally snowsure throughout the season, which normally runs from the end of November until the start of May. In fact, most of the slopes are blessed with good snow cover, with the lower altitude slopes aided by snow-making facilities. No wonder it was voted ‘Best European Resort’ in the 2012 World Snow Awards!
During the annual prizegiving at Modena Skipass, the most important winter trade-fair in Italy, Livigno took home the Best Italian Freeride Location 2014 and the Best Freeride Event with the Skieda! What does it mean? Livigno is the best Italian location for freeride!
Awards also went to the snowparks of Livigno, Mottolino and Carosello 3000, to the Nine Knights as best freeski event, to the World Rookie Fest as best snowboard event, to La Skieda as best freeride event, and to the Progetto Icaro as Best Safty Act.
So what’s on every year in Livigno? Did you hear about NINE KNIGHTS? I would love to explain that, but I think this video will be better than words.
This year we will also have something for ladies. You can welcome NINE QUEENS! Freeski and snowboard girls from all over the globe testing out the course at the huge snow castle at Mottolino Fun Mountain in Livigno!
